Module summary
Approximately eight plays are studied from across Shakespeare’s career: history plays, comedies, tragedies, and the late romances. These are studied in ways which highlight their philosophy, stagecraft, style, and thematic content. The aim of the lectures will be to explore the plays as texts, as scripts for performance, as works produced within a specific historical context, and as the objects of very different kinds of critical appropriation. Objectives
