Module summary

This module is for students who already have a basic knowledge of the language and wish to take their German to the next level. The emphasis is on achieving a practical level of communication in all four skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing) while developing greater confidence and accuracy when using the language in a limited range of situations. The module also aims to stimulate students' interest in Germany and deepen their knowledge and understanding of German society and some of the major cultural and linguistic differences.

Objectives

With their beginners' competence in Greman, students taking this module should be able to build on their existing knowledge of the language and develop and extend their ability to communicate and function in German.

They should also further develop their understanding of German culture and know how to avoid major social, cultural and linguistic faux pas when speaking German and/or when in Germany.
