Module summary
This module will develop student’s independent research capacity within the field of sustainable cities. The research Project (100%) will build on all previous learning to produce an original piece of research centred on a live urban problem identified by students and supported by an academic supervisor.Objectives
On completion of this module, students should be able to:- identify and define research problems.
- review relevant literature & develop critical thinking.
- produce a research proposal including risk and ethics considerations.
- collect, analyse and synthesise research data.
- present information in a logical and cohesive way.
- understand the limitations of the research.
- elicit appropriate conclusions.
- prepare a statement of impact of the research project.
- communicate through well-structured written documents.
Learning outcomes
1. Demonstrate a gap in body of knowledge in a chosen research area.
2. Develop research methods and research instruments for data collection.
3. Collect and analyse data to elicit new knowledge.
4. Produce a written proposal and research report.
