Objectives
Students will work with a tutor to develop a project which they will then research in detail. Their project may be on any topic in the field of applied and professional ethics, but they will be encouraged to choose something closely related to their experience in the workplace or professional practice.Learning outcomes
On completion of this module, students should have an ability to:
- understand the critical issues bearing on an aspect of professional or applied ethics in some depth;
- evaluate critically and in detail some of the main theoretical approaches to a particular issue in professional or applied ethics;
- apply this understanding to the thoughtful development of a line of argument regarding an issue in professional or applied ethics, which reflects their own critical engagement with the material studied.

Private study
Students will work with a tutor to develop a project which they will then research in detail. Their project may be on any topic in the field of applied and professional ethics, but they will be encouraged to choose something closely related to their experience in the workplace or professional practice.They will produce a 4,000 word essay, or presentation equivalent. There may be scope for group projects, with a common mark given for assessment, but only with the agreement of the Programme Leader.
Opportunities for Formative Feedback
Students will be supervised by a tutor and required to submit draft portions of their project, as well as keeping in regular contact by email or phone, and through the VLE.Methods of assessment
