Module summary
This module introduces the fundamental legal principles governing performance of contract, frustration, breach, basic remedies and advanced remedies in English contract law. It is built on the module of Introduction to English contract law and aims to provide a comprehensive overview of key legal principles in English contract law.Objectives
By the end of this module, students are expected to demonstrate a basic understanding of key legal rules and doctrines in English contract law on the advanced topics and a reasonable level of legal skill in applying the law to solve legal disputes with reference to proper case law and statutes.Learning outcomes
1. Understand the key legal principles in English contract law governing performance, frustration, breach, and both basic and advanced remedies.
2. conduct legal research to find primary legal sources
3. by reference to relevant case law and statute, articulate and explain key legal principles on the advanced topics in English contract law
4. apply the proper legal principles to solve contractual dispute in the form of problem question.

Syllabus
This module builds upon the key legal elements of contract law that students learnt in LAW1033 English Contract Law 1. It continues and furthers their understanding of contract law by teaching essential legal issues that may arise at later stages of the contractual process. Students will learn the following topics in depth:
Performance of contract
Doctrine of frustration
Breach of contract
Termination of contract
Damages for breach of contract
Advanced legal remedies for breach of contract
Taken together, this module and LAW1033 provide students with an over-arching, comprehensive understanding of the process of creating a contract and how disputes are resolved.
