Module summary
This module introduces students to the fundamental principles and main sources of UK constitutional law.Objectives
Students will learn about key principles in UK constitutional law including parliamentary sovereignty, the rule of law and the separation of powers. Students will learn about the main sources of UK constitutional law, including statutes, common law, constitutional conventions and prerogative powers. This will be fulfilled through weekly lectures, fortnightly seminars and accompanying online directed tasks to reinforce key concepts and ideas.Learning outcomes
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:
1. Understand the key functions constitutions perform in regulating states
2. Competently recognise fundamental principles of UK constitutional law
3. Identify sources of UK constitutional law and understand how the respective sources impact UK constitutional law
