This module replaces the 30 credit variant of LAW1220 Constitutional and Administrative Law for the 2 Year LLB programme.

Module summary

This module introduces students to UK constitutional and administrative law.

Objectives

This module will introduce students to the underlying principles and major sources of British Constitutional Law. In addition, students will learn about two fields of relevant public law: the law relating to police powers and public order, and the English law relating to judicial review.

Learning outcomes
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:

1. recognise, identify and state the concepts, values, principles and legal rules relating to UK Constitutional and Administrative Law;

2. apply appropriate terminology and legal reasoning to produce a coherent legal account of an issue of limited complexity relating to UK Constitutional Law and Administrative Law.

3. Interpret legal and non-legal information about UK Constitutional and Administrative law to provide a basic insight into its operation, and its relationship to relevant social, cultural and political contexts;

4. Define and identify solutions to legal problems related to UK constitutional and administrative law.
