Module summary
This module seeks to give students the opportunity to complete the full event management process from event design and planning to delivery and evaluation. There are many different components that make up a successful event and many things an effective event manager must consider. The content of this module will provide students with a great understanding of event management principles but also how to practically apply them. Students will have the opportunity to participate in and observe a high profile event.Event management tests a wide range of different skills and abilities. A key element of the module is student’s personal development through their interaction with the content, with other and through the planning, delivery and evaluation of an event. Students will analyse and critically reflect upon their skill base and action plan as to how they may improve upon identified skills.Objectives
Students will show they have acquired- Understanding of the process of event planning including the management of people, resources, finances. time and venues to run an event. Reflection and evaluation of the process.
- the practical experience of planning, advertising and running an event along with the financial controls and limitations.
Learning outcomes
On completion of the module student will have:
- Gain a greater understanding of event management process including
- Apply event management principles in a student led event
- planning including
a) time management;
b) financial planning;
c) marketing;
d) advertising;
e) reflection & evaluation;
f) team work.
- Demonstrate leadership skills and practice in a practical setting
- Develop reflective practice and insight to evaluate personal strengths and weaknesses.
- Assess and critically evaluate personal skills and abilities
- Develop a range of key graduate level skills linked to employability.
Skills outcomes
To have been involved in the planning, running and evaluation of an event related to either their degree programme or other interests.
