Module summary
This module introduces you to how organisations deal with contemporary ethical theory and concepts and the tools used to address ethical concerns. You will also be introduced to elements of contract law and torts.Objectives
The objectives of this module are to:• Provide students with an understanding of how businesses are responding to contemporary
ethical issues using various tools and techniques.
• Develop an understanding of the main rules and principles relevant to the law of contract and Tort
Learning outcomes
On successful completion of the module, students will be able to:
1. Apply ethical theories and frameworks within an organisational context
2. Formulate appropriate ethical recommendations within the organisational context
3. Examine the essential elements of a valid and legally binding contract and its role in the business
context.
4. Apply the role of the Law of Tort in business activities in assessing particular forms of tortious
liability.

Indicative content for the module:
• The nature of a contract
• Types of contracts and the requirements for their formation,
• Contents of a contract to include terms, terms implied by statute, and commercial contracts
• The law of torts, an outline of the tort of negligence
• Vicarious liability
• Ethical theory, moral philosophy and alternative perspectives
• Managing Business Ethics
• Frameworks, Models and Approaches for ethical decision making
• Stakeholders & Ethics
