Objectives

- Explain the principles underpinning leadership frameworks and associated team-working.

- Explain the principles underpinning duty of care, equality and diversity and the need for candour and will demonstrate the application of those principles in a range of settings

Learning outcomes
- demonstrate the attitudes and behaviours necessary for the role of a nursing associate
- Explain the importance of working with others in teams and networks to deliver and improve services
- Have an understanding of leadership models
- Examine the supervisory and leadership opportunities and roles for a nursing associate
- Be able to describe duty of care, including, care and compassion and empathy and how this can be demonstrated in practice.
- Describe the basic rights and principles of dignity, equality, diversity and humanity, with reference to legislation, local and national polices.
- Have an understanding of difference and diversity and how this can impact on care delivery.

- Leadership models and frameworks
- Principles of team-working and roles within teams
- Professional identities
- Historical examples of the impact of leadership on Patient care and health outcomes
- Contemporary literature regarding 6C's, dignity and respect and empathy
- Legislation relating to dignity, equality and diversity and the application to care delivery.

Private study

The modules on this programme are delivered by block teaching which distributes the teaching over a number of days/weeks using a combination of Lectures, Seminars, Workshops and Tutorials.

This module aims to apply theoretical knowledge to clinical practice. The students will be encouraged to complete guided study packages and blended learning and undertake relevant research to support this learning.

Opportunities for Formative Feedback

Students will have a specific study skills session focussing on public speaking and they will have had previous experience of presentations and feedback which will help inform this presentation.
