Module summary

Professional Portfolio Management is an applied module showing students how financial theory developed in levels one and two can be applied to portfolio management using Bloomberg Professional Service. Students will work in groups to develop an investment strategy and manage a notional portfolio according to their investment strategy.

Objectives

This module aims to provide students with an advanced understanding of how financial and investment theory is applied in practice using the Bloomberg Professional Service Platform.

Learning outcomes
Upon completion of this module students will be able to:
- Explain how the essential principles of advanced finance and investment are applied in practice
- Critically appraise the application of theoretical investment models in the context of professional portfolio management

Skills outcomes
Subject Specific Skills:
- Work effectively in small groups
- Apply mathematical and statistical skills to problem solving scenarios
- Apply knowledge of current theory and appropriate analytical tools to solve complex financial problems

Opportunities for Formative Feedback

Students can submit a draft of the first two chapters of their group report and receive written feedback. Formative feedback will also be available through seminar activities and group discussions.
