Objectives
The objective of this module is to introduce students to the framework, methodology and techniques of research and analysis for business and finance, and to elevate students’ understanding and capabilities relating to independent study.Learning outcomes
On completion of this module, students will be able to:
- Access and utilise company and industry strategic, financial and stock market information from a variety of sources;
- Work independently to carry out in-depth research and analysis of UK listed companies' strategic, accounting and stock market position and performance;
- Effectively utilise research and analysis in order to evaluate a UK listed company’s strategic, accounting and stock market position and performance;
- Independently manage a large-scale project and produce a professional-style report.
Syllabus
Indicative syllabus includes:
- Introduction to financial and business analysis
- Accessing company and industry information
- Assessing strategic direction
- Overview of financial statements
- Techniques of financial analysis: cross sectional and time series analysis
- Stock market performance: assessing share price movements and market indicators
