Objectives

The aim of the module is to provide students with opportunities to develop professional skills which are essential for success in both study and work in the field of Finance, including: communication skills; team-working skills; and commercial awareness. Students will attend an intensive Professional Experience Week during which they will have the opportunity to identify and define problems, analyse financial and non-financial data, develop their commercial awareness, exercise appropriate professional and ethical judgement and develop reasoned conclusions and recommendations.

Learning outcomes

On completion of this module students will be able to critically assess:
- investigate and utilise tools and techniques to enhance commercial awareness
- develop effective business communication skills and group working skills
- critically evaluate ethical issues that might be encountered by a finance professional, and how these might be managed in practice
- explore global and cultural issues that might be encountered in a business environment

On completion of this module students will be able to:
- work effectively as a team member in order to achieve a common team goal
- communicate clearly and effectively in writing to a professional standard
- present coherently to an audience
- reflect on their learning throughout the programme
