Objectives
The module aims to introduce, evaluate and integrate the conceptual, empirical and practice-based knowledge bases of performance management and career development. As such, it highlights the relevance of core psychological theories and concepts. On completion of this module, students will be able to:
1. Explain and critically evaluate the quality and practical relevance of conceptual, empirical and practice-based literature in the areas of performance management and career development
2. Identify and critically evaluate the impacts of organisational contexts and practical constraints on the way performance management and career development are enacted in practice
3. Diagnose needs and problems related to performance management and career development systems and processes in organisations and generate new or revised approaches.
Skills outcomes
The module aims to develop student's abilities to:
1. Select and apply relevant theories and concepts to specific practical problems and activities involved in performance management and career development in the workplace. Hence, it develops decision-making and practical problem-solving skills.
