Module summary
This module will introduce you to the concepts of entrepreneurship and enterprise. Your learning will be supported through interactive workshops, case studies and reflective exercises though which you will have the opportunity to consider your own entrepreneurial potential. In addition, learning will be supported through the experiential learning challenges which will provide a foundation for understanding how strategies are developed from an entrepreneur’s perspective.Objectives
This module aims to introduce students to entrepreneurial and enterprise concepts. It allows students to explore entrepreneurship, intrapreneurship and social enterprise. In addition, students will understand their own skills and attributes in these areas.Learning outcomes
Upon completion of this module students will be able to critically evaluate:
- enterprise and entrepreneurship theories and concepts using techniques relevant to the discipline
- different ethical, social and sustainable approaches to enterprise and their impacts

Private study
Students will be expected to read the academic literature, newspapers and online media relating to entrepreneurship and enterprise. (10 x 5 hours reading in preparation for workshops [50])Student groups will also research an identified entrepreneur’s personal history and development (15 hours) and prepare individual and group assessments (34 hours).
Students will be required to keep an online (VLE) reflective blog). (10 x 1.5 hours [15])
Opportunities for Formative Feedback
Attendance will be expected at every session, and non-attendance without good reason followed up.Issues will be addressed during the interactive sessions. Personal development and progression through the course will be monitored though online reflective blogs and a written formative assessment of an essay given to students during semester 1 to help them develop their skills.
