Module summary

This module will introduce you to the concepts of growing a small business and the planning, resourcing and implementation that a growth strategy requires. Your learning will be supported through interactive workshops, case studies and a live consultancy project with a small business.

Objectives

This module provides students with the knowledge and skills to explore business growth strategies and understand their own skills and attributes in managing business growth.

Learning outcomes
Upon completion of this module students will be able to:
- Demonstrate in-depth critical knowledge of enterprise and entrepreneurship theories and concepts using techniques relevant to the discipline
- Apply and evaluate theory and practice in their own research, advanced scholarship or area of specific interest within the broader discipline
- Take a pro-active and self-reflective role in a group setting
- Develop professional relationships with potential collaborators, employers and / or clients

Upon completion of this module students will be able to:

Private study

Students will be expected to read the academic literature, news sources and online media relating to small business growth.

Student groups will also work on applying their knowledge to a live consultancy project with a small business and prepare an individual reflective report.

Opportunities for Formative Feedback

Questions will be addressed during the interactive sessions. There will be an opportunity towards the end of the module to discuss your assignment progress with your tutors.
