Objectives
This course aims to give students a sound grounding in quantitative analysis at the level necessary to: 1) facilitate their study of academic literature on their MSc programme, 2) facilitate their undertaking of a quantitative research project for their dissertation, and 3) allow them to use and interpret results from such methods in a business environment.Learning outcomes
On completion of this module, students will be able to use descriptive statistics and various ways to present data, and be able to use quantitative methods for analysis, critically evaluating their potential and pitfalls, including the following methods and concepts:
- probability and probability distributions
- hypothesis testing and confidence intervals
- the multivariate analysis of linear relationships
- group comparisons (using ANOVA)
- exploratory factor analysis.
Skills outcomes:
Transferable
- Analytical skills
- Critical thinking skills
