Module summary
This module focuses on developing students' professional skills and abilities through experiential learning workshops, with the goal of fostering confidence, global-mindedness, and readiness for a desired career path in international business. Designed to enhance students’ professional literacy the module enables students to think critically and promotes self-reflection and self-assessment to identify areas for personal and professional development. The module provides a framework for students to realise their employment potential, understand the range of roles open to international business professionals and gives them the skills and attributes necessary to succeed in their chosen career. The module places a strong emphasis on hands-on individual and group activities and incorporates a diverse range of perspectives and insights from both academic and industry experts. Students also have the opportunity to supplement their learning through access to a variety of external professional development resources and the option to earn an additional Microsoft certified certification in MS Excel. The module would also look to develop students’ academic skills as they prepare for their final independent research project.Objectives
This module aims to empower students to take ownership of their own professional development, enabling them to become confident, connected, and globally minded citizens. Through a series of experiential learning workshops, this module is designed to cultivate students' professional literacy and equip them with an array of tools and techniques, essential for success in today's competitive and ever-changing global job market. This module aims to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to embark on their desired career paths with confidence and readiness.Learning outcomes
1. Synthesize, critically analyse, and classify the key competencies, expertise, personal attributes, and potential career trajectories of successful international business professionals.
2. Engage in critical self-reflection and self-assessment to identify areas for personal and professional development and devise and implement strategies to address them.
3. Demonstrate advanced communication and presentation skills to effectively present themselves and their work to a standard expected at postgraduate level.
4. Collaborate effectively within team environments to deliver high-quality results and contribute to the achievement of shared goals and objectives by utilising advanced inter-personal, cross-cultural and problem-solving skills.
5. Demonstrate a high level of digital literacy including the ability to select and use digital applications and services to create digital items and resources appropriate for use in a professional environment.

Private study
This includes a variety of activities, such as reading, watching videos, self-reflection on personal development plan and reviewing outcomes, researching employment opportunities and seeking experiences and feedback to improve personal development, including undertaking university affiliated e-learning development courses.Opportunities for Formative Feedback
Formative feedback is provided throughout face-to-face delivery, particularly given the interactive nature of the workshops. There will also be an opportunity to gain feedback on their self-reflective professional portfolio on PebblePad as well as the other digital interactive tools are used outside of class to support student learning. There are opportunities for students to receive additional formative feedback through a variety of signposted skills development courses available via university affiliated e-learning platforms such as LinkedIn Learning and HBP Harvard ManageMentor as well as the JISC digital capabilities discover tool.The module also provides students with the opportunity to sit an optional Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) exam in Microsoft Excel. On successful completion students will receive a Microsoft certified qualification and feedback on their performance.
