Module summary
Utilising the learning from various core and elective modules, this module enables students to design and complete an independent research project on a specific area relating to international business.Objectives
This module aims to provide students with the skills required to design and complete an independent research project, independently, in a specific area relating to the MSc International Business programme, making appropriate choices of research method and approach.Learning outcomes
Upon completion of this module students will be able to:
- independently design and manage a piece of original research project
- identify a gap in literature and justify it appropriately
- discuss the ethical dimensions of their research and obtain appropriate ethical approval, if needed
- demonstrate understanding of the existing literature on the subject by conducting a systematic review of it and synthesise existing knowledge
- establish links between theory and methods within their field of study
- use the knowledge and skills gained from other modules and apply for research
- choose and justify relevant research method(s) for conducting research
- critically analyse the data collected to answer the research question(s) adopted for the work
- present findings in the form of a written report

- Critically engage with the current literature in the field of international business
- Be critical in applying core concepts, analytical tools and frameworks in an integrated manner across subjects to identify the dynamics and constraints of managing
- Take ownership of a significant independent project, managing all aspects, including engagement with the supervisor and any third party
