Objectives

This module aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills of managing international purchasing and supply. It provides students with a grounded understanding of the key issues in designing, managing and improving sourcing and strategic supply management. The module offers students with advanced theories and practical methods needed to address business challenges such as global competition, sustainability and supply chain disruptions.

Learning outcomes
Upon completion of this module, students will be able to:
1. Demonstrate understanding of the nature and strategic significance of purchasing and supply management for various types of organizations
2. Demonstrate understanding of and develop the strategic roles of purchasing and supply management in various types of organizations
3. Demonstrate critical evaluation of purchasing and supply management practices using relevant theories, tools and techniques.

Private study

This could include a variety of activities, such as reading, watching videos, question practice and exam preparation.

Students are expected to spend their private study undertaking activities such as preparing for lectures and preparing for assessment. This will include activities such as completing assigned reading including textbooks, case studies, and other material available on-line.

Opportunities for Formative Feedback

Your teaching methods could include a variety of delivery models, such as face-to-face teaching, live webinars, discussion boards and other interactive activities. There will be opportunities for formative feedback throughout the module.

Students will undertake case studies and problem-solving activities in workshops or lectures and then self-monitor their progress against class discussion and tutor-provided solutions.
