Module summary
The module will give you the opportunity to show your abilities to subtitle a video at a professional standard as the culmination of your learning in the degree. You will be trained and work under supervision to produce a medium-length subtitled clip at a professional standard and to justify your subtitling choices. You will be responsible for proposing the specific clip to be subtitled, which should follow the language combination of your Specialised Translation module.Objectives
This module is designed to provide audiovisual translation students with experience in producing medium-length audiovisual translations (subtitles) of a professional standard from one language into English; it is also intended to increase students' awareness of what the subtitling process involves, as well as introducing them to theories and methods in audiovisual translation and localisation studies that can guide them in their awareness and translation choicesLearning outcomes
On successful completion of the module students will have demonstrated the following learning outcomes relevant to the subject:

3. Ability to use subtitling technologies
4. Ability to present and deliver a subtitling project

Opportunities for Formative Feedback
Formative feedback will be provided during seminars and through supervision sessions with supervisors. The lectures and seminars will be aimed at supporting students in choosing viable videos, assessing challenges, applying theories to inform the choices of their translation strategy, using subtitling software, and managing a large subtitling project. Students will receive formative feedback on tasks carried out at seminars, which will be sequenced to help them prepare different aspects of their projects. Students will submit a proposal (text specifications), which they will discuss with their supervisor at the first meeting. The supervisor will read and provide formative feedback on a 10% draft during the las tsecond meeting. They will have a third and fourth meeting with their supervisor to discuss their overall progress before their last part of independent work ahead of submission.Methods of assessment
