Module summary
Building upon Case Studies in Global Fashion & Sustainability, the study of advanced contextual situations across the value chain and this relationship to case study will be presented through complex case examples and extensions of theory. Frameworks of criticality that can be applied to single or multi case studies will be established to provide a basis upon which the students can undertake independent case study analysis and generation. Developing research questions where case study can provide a specific answer and insight will be explored - students will be guided for this research question development.Objectives

On completion of this module students will be able to:
1. Demonstrate the ability to research independent areas of interest in relation to the development and application of innovations within the contemporary fashion value chain.
2. Communicate the current context, issues and challenges for the fashion value chain.
3. Critically assess the strengths and weaknesses of the value chain.
4. Apply an in-depth critical knowledge of the fashion value chain using theories and critical framework techniques relevant to the fashion value chain and subsequently apply this knowledge to address an identified challenge or issue in the fashion value chain
Skills outcomes
1. Develop skills to translate critical analysis of case studies into the development of strategic propositions for the international fashion value chain.
2. Describing and explain the main findings from a case study analysis.
3. Develop skills in framing research questions and their place within an independent case study proposals.
4. Develop storytelling and narrative in the creating of a case study report.
5. Identify the role of fashion marketing and branding as an aspect of the international fashion value chain.

Indicative Content for this module includes:
- Discussion and application of critical frameworks relevant to the interdisciplinary components within the international fashion value chain.
- Translation of critical analysis of case studies into the development of strategic propositions for the international fashion value chain.
- Describing and explain the main findings from a case study analysis.
- The framing of research questions and their place within an independent case study proposals.

Considering this is a distance learning module independent and private study activity are also to be considered in the lecture and seminar hours count.Independent Learning - refers to non-facilitated directed learning. Students will work through bespoke interactive learning resources and reflective activities in the VLE.
Range of readings, tasks, formative MCQ test and discussion board online (e.g. search strategies and online Q&A): 24 hours
Private Study - refers to directed reading and self-directed research in support of learning activities and discussions, as well as in preparation for assessments.
1. Develop understanding through critically analyse, and applying theories to develop strategies within the fashion value chain - 18 hours
2. Identifying further studies and research trends on the topic – 18 hours
3. Case studies analysis and review – 18 hours
4. Development narratives as a method for case study presentation - 20 hours
5. Preparation of portfolio - 40 hours
Opportunities for Formative Feedback
- The module’s digital learning materials provide regular opportunities for participants to check their understanding and gain feedback (e.g., case studies with short answer questions and automated feedback, MCQs with detailed feedback on correct/incorrect answers).- The individual unit webinars and discussion forums provide opportunities for formative feedback from peers and tutors.
- The module assessment will enable student progress to be monitored with formative feedback provided for draft of the portfolio (case study analysis).
