Module summary
The module provides post-graduate students on the masters in Culture, Creativity and Entrepreneurship with the theoretical cornerstones to underpin their understanding of the whole programme of study. Students will evaluate and analyse in depth different theoretical perspectives on a range of areas within the cultural industries.Objectives
The objectives of this module are to develop theoretical understandings of the contemporary interaction of culture and creativity with entrepreneurship within the context of wider academic and policy debates about the significance of the cultural and creative industries.Learning outcomes
On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:
1. Define and locate the fields of culture, creativity and entrepreneurship within the broader context of social, economic and cultural theory.
2. Understand, apply and critique key concepts such as cultural industries, creative industries and the creative economy.
3. Examine the theoretical interaction between concepts of creativity and entrepreneurship.
4. Interrogate the role of public policy in relation to contemporary strategies for developing the cultural and creative industries.
Skills outcomes
Students develop their analytical and interpretive skills and an ability to critique key concepts in the field of culture, creativity and entrepreneurship.

Opportunities for Formative Feedback
Semester 1 has a short assignment (2000 words) followed by a 1-to-1 tutorial to discuss feedback and give guidance. Importantly, this allows academic staff to identify potential issues and signpost students to additional support if required. The second tutorial gives students a chance to receive feedback on ideas for the second assignment (4000 words). Additional opportunities for formative feedback is available in seminars.Methods of assessment
