Objectives
Students will be able to demonstrate knowledge, understanding and application of:1. How a physicist’s knowledge and skills are transferrable to the workplace
2. How to manage one’s own time with competing deadlines, and a project or package of work for which you are responsible
3. What career path and job types are likely to suit you following your graduation
4. The skills you need to further develop to successfully pursue your career of interest
5. How to effectively prepare successful job applications which communicate your technical and interpersonal skills, and your motivations
6. How to work and learn independently and as part of a team
7. When it is appropriate to take the initiative in your own work, and when to seek guidance or approval from senior members of staff
Skills outcomes
Time management.

Independent learning in an industrial environment.
Syllabus
There is no set syllabus as this module entails experiential learning in the industrial workplace. To date, work placements have been mainly in the nuclear industry, IT and finance.

'Presentation' Assessment component can also be done as a poster submission. Please ask the module leader for further details. Students must submit a serious attempt at all assessments, in order to pass the module overall. All components are marked pass/fail. Students may only resit non-placement components of this module. Students who fail components related to the placement will be required to transfer to the non-industrial version of their programme of study
