Private study
- The students will be required to engage in private study to revise for the exam, guidance will be provided by way of problems provided during the course of the module.- They will be provided with the answers by the lecturers, but the exercises will not be formally assessed.
- They will also be required to write a formal essay on a current topic (students will be given a choice of 3 essays) which will be assessed.
Opportunities for Formative Feedback
Student progress will be monitored through exercises provided during the lectures, and through 2 workshops. Methods of assessment
Coursework
Assessment type | Notes | % of formal assessment |
Essay | A topic of current interest on the physics of materials of 1000-2000 words (~3 pages) in length. Students will be given detailed guidance as to the marking scheme (ie 20% presentation, 20% references, 50% physics content and 10% diagrams). | 30.00 |
