Objectives
On completion of this module students will present a dissertation which demonstrates their ability to:- independently formulate and research a sociology question;
- carry out independent research into a topic in the field of sociology;
- show their in depth knowledge and understanding of sociological debates in their chosen topic of enquiry;
- evaluate the sociological debates and/or empirical evidence and methods they have used in the dissertation;
- write an extended piece of work. in the field of sociology.
Learning outcomes
On successful completion of this module, students will be able to:
1. have independently formulated and researched a sociology question;
2. have carried out independent research into a topic in the field of sociology;
3. developed an in-depth knowledge and understanding of sociological debates in their chosen topic of enquiry;
4. have evaluated the sociological debates and/or empirical evidence and methods they have used in the dissertation;
5. have written an extended piece of work in the field of sociology.
Syllabus
The sociological content shall be negotiated between the student and their supervisor.
