Module summary
SPPO1010 is an integrated Spanish language skills module, designed to continue Spanish language learning after A-level. The module places particular emphasis on the development and application of written and oral interaction in a variety of communicative contexts.Objectives
Students should achieve knowledge of Spanish language up to a B2 level of the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR). They are expected to acquire a level of discursive and functional competence to allow them to communicate in different situations both in writing and orally.Learning outcomes
On successful completion of the module students will have demonstrated the following learning outcomes relevant to the subject:
1. Understand the main ideas of a text in Spanish on both concrete and abstract topics.
2. Produce different types of written texts in Spanish in a variety of contexts, in a clear and purposeful manner with a level of accuracy that allows successful communication with other speakers;
3. Interact with a degree of fluency and spontaneity that makes communication with other speakers possible without significant strain for either party
4. Show cultural and intercultural awareness on contemporary and/or historical issues related to the Spanish-speaking world
Skills Learning Outcomes:
On successful completion of the module students will have demonstrated the following skills learning outcomes:
5. Ability to (both within verbal and written communication) be clear, concise and focused up to a B2 level in Spanish language, being able to tailor their message for the audience and listening to the views of others.
6. Ability to demonstrate awareness and understanding of self and others including different cultures;
7. Develop effective autonomous learning skills on language learning

Opportunities for Formative Feedback
There will be one formative portfolio submission in Semester 1.- All oral activities in Semester 1 will be formative.
- Formative feedback will be provided during office hours in Semester 1 and feedback week at the start of Semester 2. I- Students will also receive automated formative feedback on individual performance in online formative grammar tests;
- During the course of all language classes formative feedback can be provided.

The resit for any written component of this module, will take the form of a 48-hour OTLA. The resit for the oral component will comprise an oral examination conducted on campus or online.
