Objectives

To introduce fundamental psychological principles, theory and research in the domain of sport and exercise.

Learning outcomes
On completion of the module students will be able to:
- explain a basic knowledge and understanding of foundational topic areas in sport and exercise psychology;
- define and discuss psychological theories and basic research;
- integrate psychological principles in the context of sport and exercise;
- Have an appreciation of issues affecting sport and exercise behaviour from a psychological perspective and describe them;
- engage, interpret and discuss practical sessions relating to selected psychological skills training.
