Module summary
The Transport Dissertation module provides students the opportunity to apply the academic and research skills gained through their programme to complete an independent research project. It enables students to gain in-depth knowledge of an area of interest within their programme and contribute to academic research within the subject area. Students will be required to undertake a dissertation cognate to their degree programme.Objectives
The aim of the module is to give students the opportunity to develop and apply research and/or design skills in a specialist topic within the transport discipline.Learning outcomes
On successful completion of the module students will have demonstrated the following learning outcomes relevant to the subject:
-LO1: Demonstrate understanding of existing literature and produce a literature review relevant to a chosen area of study.
-LO2: Identify and formulate research question derived from the literature review.
-LO3: Justify chosen methodology for the study.
-LO4: Collect qualitative/quantitative data, through fieldwork or from public data sources, where appropriate.
-LO5: Analyse primary/secondary data, or design an appropriate solution, where appropriate.
-LO6: Critically assess the findings and draw conclusion on relevance to a subject area.
-LO7: Produce a report that outlines the whole research cycle.
-LO8: Present the research to specialist and non-specialist audiences.

On successful completion of the module students will have demonstrated the following skills learning outcomes:

-15. Digital and analytical skills related to use of software for analysing or evaluating a solution (subject specific).

Opportunities for Formative Feedback
- Interim Report: this report is the project inception. Feedback is provided by the supervision team.- Poster presentation: feedback provided by the supervision team and peers.
- Oral Examination: feedback provided by the main supervisor and the session moderator.
- Individual supervision: feedback provided in meetings and in detail on one chapter and overview on another chapter.
