Module summary
Within this module, you will build upon and critically apply skills learned in your home institutions and integrate these into the cultural context of Leeds as host institution. You You will develop personal studio work and engage with the complex nature of international contemporary art practices in order to develop critical and analytical perspectives. You will also examine the histories and traditions of art practice to assist in situating yourself within the contemporary art world.Objectives
To build upon and critically apply skills learned in their home institutions and integrate these into the cultural context of a host institution;To engage with the complex nature of international contemporary art practices and to develop critical and analytical perspectives;
To examine the histories and traditions of art practice to assist in situating themselves within the contemporary art world;
To develop personal studio work, monitor the development of this work and apply critical skills in the appropriate modes of distribution and presentation.
Learning outcomes
On successful completion of the module you will be able to
1. develop key concepts and formal approaches to art making;
2. An ability to identify and evaluate the most appropriate use of different materials, processes and environments in approaches to problem solving, independently and /or collaboratively;
3. Locate your work within a contextual framework of contemporary fine art practice;
4. show initiative and resourcefulness in the planning and resolution of self-initiated or collaborative projects.
Skills learning outcomes
On successful completion of the module students will have demonstrated the following skills learning outcomes:
5. Communication: the ability to tailor your message for the audience and listening to the views of others.
6. Interpersonal Skills: the ability to demonstrate awareness and understanding of self and others; to be able to build rapport, relationships and network with others.
