Module summary

Advanced Research Skills 1 consists of two related parts: The module serves as an introduction to the extensive resources and skills support provided by the University of Leeds. Students work independently through online material offered by Skills@Library. This individually paced learning enables participants to refresh, complement and expand their research, referencing, writing and time management skills. Additionally, students and staff from the School of Fine Art, History of Art and Cultural Studies come together in four interactive lectures. These address issues such as ‘deep’ reading and how to make the best use of databases and other digital resources. A further focus is on the rewards and challenges of working with archives or with human participants.
