Objectives
On completion of this module students should have acquired the following:- understanding of the most common project management tools and techniques;
- knowledge of a range of issues that are currently facing the project manager;
- awareness of a range of realistic situations that a successful project manager would have to manage and control.
Learning outcomes
Better understanding of the practical consequences of construction and project management in construction and engineering.
Syllabus
General introduction to project management covering all phases of the project life cycle and including:
- project appraisal;
- project planning and control;
- procurement issues (such as collaborative working and contract strategy development);
- project cash flow and risk management.
All of these issues are addressed through a combination of lecture, tutorial and case study.
