Pre-requisite qualifications
- A minimum of two years relevant postgraduate professional experience.- Have basic ICT skills (to be able to use e-mail, word processors and the WWW) and to be able to use computers routinely in their academic work.
- To demonstrate independent facility in the use of ICT with appropriate technical support.

Module summary
This module aims to provide a critical examination of practice, research and development in the area of Information and Communications Technology in Education. It will examine the impact of computer based technologies on education, and explore ways of evaluating that impact.By considering a spectrum of issues, the module will introduce participants to the many facets of ICT in a range of educational settings, both formal and informal.Objectives
On completion of this module, students should be able to:- analyse and critique the roles and rationales for ICT in education;
- apply a range of theoretical perspectives systematically to ICT in education;
- evaluate critically the nature and extent of ICT's impact on educational practices and stakeholders.
Syllabus
This module aims to provide a critical examination of practice, research and development in the area of Information and Communications Technology in Education. It will examine the impact of computer based technologies on education, and explore ways of evaluating that impact.
By considering a spectrum of issues, the module will introduce participants to the many facets of ICT in a range of educational settings, both formal and informal.

- The seminars are 12x2 hour synchronous seminars and
- the on-line learning takes the form of 12x2 hour asynchronous discussions.
Opportunities for Formative Feedback
- Each participant will be expected to make a contribution of between 500 - 1,000 word per Session, about a specific issue in the asynchronous discussion.- Each person will be expected to contribute to the synchronous seminar.
