Module summary
This module covers the sale of goods, consumer credit and the law of agency. The broad emphasis is on "commercial" transactions rather than "consumer" ones, though a very great deal of the law is of course common to both. The module will provide an examination of four main aspects of sales, considering how the law affects contracts for the sale of goods and the rights and duties of both seller and buyer. This is a 20 credit module which runs across both semesters, totalling 20 lectures and seven seminars.Objectives
On completion of this module, students should be able to:- demonstrate a critical knowledge of the legal context of commercial dispute resolution and of the general principles of law relating to agency, the sale of goods and consumer credit;
- analyse practical problems relating to these areas;
- identify and evaluate the possibilities for reform in this area of law.
