Module summary

An opportunity for students to be fully involved from start to finish in the running of an event. As well as assisting in a University event, students will organise an event related to their experience and interests.

Objectives

To give students the practical experience of planning, advertising and running an event along with the financial controls and limitations.

On completion of this module, students should understand the basic principles of:

- planning including time management
- financial planning
- marketing
- advertising
- reflection & evaluation
- team work

Learning outcomes
Understanding of the process of event planning including the management of people, resources, time and venues to run an event. Reflection and evaluation of the process.


Syllabus

Introduction to planning, running and evaluation of an event including: -
- marketing.
- customer service.
- budget control.
- health & safety legislation & risk assessment.
- insurance.
