Module summary
The module allows students to consider foundation statistics comprising: - descriptive statistics- frequency distributions and histograms- averages and measures of dispersion- regression and correlation- ANOVA- the nature of probability and probability distributions- sampling theory, estimation and confidence intervals- hypothesis testing.Objectives
On completion of this module students should be able to:- appreciate the value of quantitative approach to solving a wide range of business problems;
- recognise limitations of a quantitative approach
- understand and apply basic statistical concepts within business situations
- benefit from modules of their degree programme that require possession of quantitative skills and knowledge.

Foundation statistics comprising:
- descriptive statistics
- frequency distributions and histograms
- averages and measures of dispersion
- regression and correlation
- ANOVA
- the nature of probability and probability distributions
- sampling theory, estimation and confidence intervals
- hypothesis testing.
