Module summary
Not sure where you are going? Hoping for an interesting and rewarding career? This module examines your goals and prospects in detail. Your whole life is included, both other interests you want to pursue, develop or even earn from and beyond your first job. In teams you will survey the likely situations facing you throughout your career. Against this background you will plot your own proposed career. By using several standard professional tools, such as skills analysis and performance evaluation, you equip yourself to manage the rest of your career.Objectives
On completion of this module, students will be able to:structure a review of their own objectives and goals;
develop and deploy continuing awareness of the personal and academic skills required in future careers, including relevant sources of career information and guidance;
critically assess the significance of their academic, personal and learning skills for future career patterns;
demonstrate the enhancement of key skills through both their specific academic programme and their University and external activities and experiences;
present their personal and academic qualities effectively against professional criteria;
and evaluate alternative strategies for job search and career management across different sectors.
