Objectives
This module aims to provide knowledge and understanding of the empirical and theoretical research literature in the areas of selection and training. Through considering the practical issues associated with implementing selection and training systems and processes, students will be able to apply their knowledge in an organizational environment while working as consultants and/or researchers in their subsequent careers.Learning outcomes
Upon completion of this module students will be able to understand and critically evaluate:
- selection and training as integrated processes for achieving competence
- each stage of the selection and training processes
- the main methods of job analysis, selection, and training delivery
- the concepts of reliability, validity, and utility in selection and training contexts, for the purpose of evaluation
- competency theories and their application to selection and training delivery

This is a core compulsory module on the MSc Organizational Psychology and MSc Business Psychology programmes, addressing content within three of the six syllabus areas identified by the British Psychological Society (BPS) for their MSc programme accreditation.

Opportunities for Formative Feedback
