Objectives
The aim of this module is to examine theories of change and development as they apply to organisations, groups and individuals. It examines different theoretical perspectives and approaches that can be applied to facilitate change in organisations.Learning outcomes
Upon completion of this module students will be able to critically assess:
- major concepts, theories, frameworks and tools for facilitating change in organisations
- potential negative human costs of change and ways in which to minimise these costs
- methodological issues, concepts and theories about leading change in organisations
Skills outcomes
Upon completion of this module students will be able to:

- evaluate and debate theories and received opinion on organisational development and change
- apply theories, concepts and frameworks to facilitate organisational change
- formulate plans to initiate and facilitate organisational change

- synthesise ideas and develop models to facilitate understanding, planning and action
Syllabus
The module covers core topics within the discipline of change management, including: organizational change process; stakeholder management; reactions to organizational change; motivating others to change; leadership and organizational change; employee-led change.

Reading and preparation for lectures, seminars and the examination (to include a mix of independent online learning and private study):- 3 hours reading per lecture (3x8=24)
- 4 hours reading/practical preparation per seminar (4x8=32)
