Module summary

While each session will be led by formal content, each student is expected to bring examples of the relevant element and be willing to discuss the strengths and weaknesses of the examples. While students will work in teams, each student is expected to produce their own element as part of the final assessment. Essentially, students will be working towards completion of the final assessment from the beginning of the module.

Objectives

To introduce students to all the key aspects of writing an academic paper. The module is reflective and by its end students should be able to produce a good first draft of an academic paper.

Learning outcomes
Students will be able understand the key elements of an academic paper and be able to craft a at least part of a draft academic paper by the end module. They will also have the skills to critically evaluate the form and style of an academic paper in the discipline.

2) A General Overview of an A&F paper and some general rules of academic writing.
3) The Secrets of Writing a Title for an Academic Paper.
4) Academic Paper Abstracts
5) Introductions
6) Literature Reviews
7) Data and Methodology
8) Results and Discussion
9) Conclusions
10) References and Proof Reading
11) Presentation Styles and Discussion of Draft Assessments
