A-level Mathematics or equivalent.

Objectives

On completion of this module students should be able to:
1. know how to use the University network to access the World Wide Web and to use work-processing and email
2. use Latex to write simple equations
3. use R for data analysis
4. use the Maple paclage to obtain numerical and algebraic answers to formulas in calculus and algebra.

Syllabus

1. Logging on to the Univeristy system
2. Use of email
3. Use of WWW
4. Word processing using MS Word and LaTex
5. Stats package R
6. Maple as a tool for doing numerical calculations
7. Maple as a tool for doing algebraic manipulation
8. Applications of Maple to Calculus.
