Objectives

This module provides state of the art research led teaching focusing on 4 immunology topics, but also covers microbial systems biology, virus and parasites. Students are recommended to attend five advanced topics.

Learning outcomes
Students should become familiar with current research in a range of topical areas within the field of microbiology.


Syllabus

The module will consist of a number of "advanced topic units", each of which will contain a series of lectures ± other teaching sessions relating to a particular research topic within the field of microbiology. Students will attend, and do additional reading on, at least 5 of these ATUs.

This module is mutually exclusive with other Advanced topics modules in this semester within the faculty of biological sciences.

Reading lists will be provided in association with each lecture as a starting point for self-directed learning around the material in each ATU. An average of 5 hours additional reading/revision is allocated to each lecture.

Opportunities for Formative Feedback

- Online delivery of lectures via Blackboard Collaborate and student engagement will be monitored in line with standard faculty practice.
