Module summary

In this Module you will apply theoretical approaches to entrepreneurial skill and knowledge to a specific individually negotiated project in which you develop an entrepreneurial solution to an identified problem or opportunity. You will work with your tutor to identify an opportunity to develop your entrepreneurial skills and apply your entrepreneurial knowledge. It is possible that you will be able to work in small teams as appropriate to the opportunity.

Objectives

On completion of this module, students should be able to develop, practice and demonstrate skills of creative enterprise in the context of a problem-solving scenario.

Learning outcomes
On successful completion of the module students will have demonstrated the following learning outcomes relevant to the subject:
1. Understand the variety of contexts in which creative enterprise skills can be applied.
2. Apply different theoretical and analytical approaches to entrepreneurialism and entrepreneurial behaviour to the creative context, including key concepts such as risk, motivation, autonomy and efficacy.
3. Identify and relate entrepreneurial skill and knowledge to own professional development and or/practice.
4. Develop strategies for learning through entrepreneurial activity.

Skills Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of the module students will have demonstrated the following skills learning outcomes:
5. Develop and apply entrepreneurial skills within a relevant context.
6. Develop entrepreneurial strategies for a given context and produce a self-assessment of own practice.
7. Effectively communicate entrepreneurial objectives, strategies and outcomes.


Syllabus

This Module enables students to develop knowledge of entrepreneurship as it applies within the cultural and creative domains. The relevant context for this module is normally outside the School and may be outside the University. Examples might include managing and marketing student-led creative events, developing creative projects for in community and educational contexts, or using creative/performance skills and understanding to meet needs of external partners.

• Tools for developing entrepreneurial solutions
• Funding and financial management
• The business environment
• Failure
• Intrapreneurship.

Opportunities for Formative Feedback

Students will recieve formative feedback from their contribution to the seminars and workshops, on the problem specification as expressed in their proposal, and in the individual tutorials in weeks 5 and 14.
