Module summary
This module enables students who have completed an A1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFRL) to develop their language skills up to A2 (CEFRL). Language Learning in this module is student-centred and follows a communicative task-based approach. The classroom is conceived as a social space for communication and the co-creation of communication-related tangible outputs: Dialogues, written descriptions, food recipes, trips’ itineraries, group presentations. Listening, reading, writing, speaking, interaction and mediation tasks will be set to develop all these communication skills.Objectives
To develop the students’ language skills, cultural understanding, and intercultural competence up to CEFRL A2 level.Teaching is divided into a series of units, developing various important skills, such as the ability to work in a team, to a deadline, and the ability to assimilate and organize language material and present it according to the register, style, and context of an A2 level.
Students should also develop an awareness of the cultural expressions and behaviours of the Spanish-speaking world.
Learning outcomes
On successful completion of the module students will have demonstrated the following learning outcomes relevant to the subject:
1. Understand both through reading and listening sentences and frequently used expressions related to areas of most immediate relevance.
2. Communicate both through writing and speaking about simple and everyday tasks requiring a simple and direct exchange of information on familiar and everyday matters.
3. Develop an awareness of different cultural behaviours and the use different registers in social situations of most immediate relevance.
4. Develop and communicate both through writing and speaking an understanding of different cultural and historical events and information of Spanish-speaking countries.

Opportunities for Formative Feedback
-Students will receive formative feedback from the tutor of their oral and written production during language classes, that is, during the 4 hours of weekly contact with the tutor.-Students will receive formative feedback from the tutor on written tasks through homework set twice a week and submitted on Minerva. The digital tool Feedback Fruits will be used for submission and provision of feedback.
-Students will have some self-assessed homework, which will be set by the tutor twice a week on Minerva. Answers for that piece of homework will be available on Minerva.
