Module summary

The aim of this module is to take students from A2 to B1 level of the CEFR. Building on the skills attained at the end of Level 1, this module consolidates and improves basic and more complex grammatical structures used in a variety of contexts. Students will reinforce and further develop their linguistic competence (written and oral) in Portuguese grammar, vocabulary, style, and specialised uses of Portuguese.

Objectives

- Provide the students with the linguistic and inter/cultural knowledge and skills necessary to communicate effectively in a Portuguese-speaking country.
- Develop students' ability to reflect on their own learning and to choose and complete autonomously language learning activities.

Syllabus

The module will be divided into a series of units, each involving a specific exercise which will allow students to develop various important skills, such as the ability to work in a team, to a deadline, and the ability to assimilate and organise written and spoken material and present it in a given register, style and context. One unit, for example, involves the preparation of a C.V. Students will be interviewed for a mock job based on the preparation of this C.V. and covering letter.
