Module summary

On completion of this module students will have an intermediate level of knowledge of macroeconomic models, will be able to apply a wider range of theoretical models to the study of economic problems in macroeconomics and will be able to use more advanced techniques in the application of economic models to the study of macroeconomic problems.

Objectives

On completion of this module, students will:
- have an intermediate level knowledge of macroeconomic models,
- be able to apply a wider range of theoretical models to the study of economic problems in macroeconomics,
- be able to use more advanced techniques in the application of economic models to the study of macroeconomic problems.

- National income: production, distribution and allocation
- Unemployment
- Money and inflation
- Economic fluctuations
- Aggregate demand
- Aggregate supply
- Macroeconomic policy debate.

Private study

For each 10 credits of study taken, the expectation is that the normal study time (including attendance at lectures and tutorials, self-study and revision) is 100 hours.

Opportunities for Formative Feedback

- Informally assessed MCQ tests are used to make you aware of the learning process.
- The tests intend to assess and provide feedback on factual, comprehension of text/graphics/data, numerical skills and deductive reasoning related to the 5 topics of this Module. For Topic 2 and Topic 3 there are three and four tests respectively.
