Module summary

Formerly - LEED2004 - The LEEDS AwardAre you seeking to enhance your CV? Are you undertaking projects or activities to improve your employability? Would you like this recognised formally? The Graduate Skills module is worth 20 credits and is one that recognises the contribution that you make to the University and society, and through a variety of activities supports and enhances that experience. You may be a committee member of a society, teaching English to asylum seekers, or running your own business – any of these types of activity can form the basis of your module ‘placement’. Supporting your focus activity, you undertake an agreed training package, deliver your activity and use this as a focus for identifying, developing and reflecting upon the employability skills that you gain from this experience, and are exposed to some of the ethical issues surrounding participation, leadership and volunteering.Designated a Special Skills module, and so available to students across all degree programmes, this module is normally taken by level 2 and 3 students. This module is recognised on your transcript. If you are a returning student you should enrol for this module online; following enrolment you will receive an email from Sport & Physical Activity requesting further information, and will need to make contact with the Module Manager to ensure that the activity that you wish to use as the focus for the module is appropriate. Dependent on that activity, you may need to complete a DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check ideally before you leave University for the summer vacation.
