Objectives

The aim of the module is to provide students with opportunities to develop professional skills which are essential for success in both study and work in the field of Finance, including: communication skills; team-working skills; and commercial awareness. During the module, students will analyse business issues and case studies; through these scenarios and case studies students will have the opportunity to identify and define problems, analyse financial and non-financial data, develop their commercial awareness, exercise appropriate professional and ethical judgement and develop reasoned conclusions and recommendations.

On completion of this module students will be able to critically assess:
- Commercial awareness and how it can be developed and improved;
- The concept of effective communication;
- Ethical issues that might be encountered by a finance professional, and how these might be managed in practice;
- Global/cultural issues that might be encountered in a business environment.
