Module summary

Over the course of the last several decades we are able to discern a number of changes in attitudes and approaches to art, craft and design practices and production. This has affected artists, craftspeople and designers, their outputs, and the museums galleries and curators who represent and present their work. In addition, with the emergence of digital practices during the late 1990s art, craft and design materiality, production, distribution and reception have been radically redrawn. The role of the ‘artist’, ‘craftsperson’ and ‘designer’ is interrogated, as are the new definitions of these roles that emerge during this period.
