Module summary
This module further develops your knowledge and understanding of equality and diversity issues. You will revisit the General Dental Council (GDC) Standards as they are applied to regulation of the dental team. The module links your learning of clinical procedures to communication issues in respect of those procedures.Objectives
The objective of this module is to continue student‘s professional development by further developing insight into communication, patient diversity and professional regulation.Learning outcomes
On completion of this module students should be able to:
1. Apply knowledge and demonstrate understanding of issues related to equality, diversity and inclusivity.
2. Apply knowledge and demonstrate understanding of the General Dental Council Standards for the Dental Team.
3. Further develop, demonstrate and reflect on their communication skills, using the Leeds for Life platform.

If a student is legitimately unable to take part in the groupwork or the group fails the presentation, submission of a 1500 word individual written assignment based on one of the topics covered in the group work would be substituted for the assessment and constitute 40% of the module mark. Where the assignment is used as a resit for the groupwork, the maximum mark awarded will be capped at 40. Leeds for Life completion is progressional and reflection on progress across the whole programme. The verbal presentation is non-compensatable.
